Gematria what does mean

gematria is an ancient numerical system that utilizes the numerical value of words to uncover hidden meanings and interpretations. It is one of many tools used by Jewish scholars to understand and expound upon the Torah, Talmud, and other Rabbinic commentaries. The word gematria itself comes from the Hebrew term "ge'matriya," which means "calculation."

At its most basic, gematria works by assigning a numerical value to each letter of the Hebrew alphabet. For example, the letter aleph has a value of 1, bet has a value of 2, and so on up to 100 for tav. By adding up each number in a particular word or phrase – sometimes with other modifiers applied – it is possible to discover unusual connections between seemingly unrelated ideas.

Gematria can also be used in mundane pursuits such as finding compatibility between two people's names or Biblical dates when used as lucky numbers. For example, if you add up Abraham's name (Alef-Bet-Reish-Hey) you get 248 which can be compared with Sarah's (Samech-Hey-Reish-Yud) which adds up to 305. When you subtract the two numbers from each other you get 57 which symbolizes love and harmony between them. Each number can evoke spiritual insight into various aspects of life experience, including health, relationships and intellectual pursuits.
